Well gents, I took part in today's 10+10 pistol/revolver 25m competiton match held to mark Croatia's Independance day and I must say, it was pretty fun!
Although I ended up 21nd (out of 25 competitors), I felt like Stan Marsh - learning something today. Anyway, it was a mixed 10+10 pistol/revolver match comprised of two sessions: precision fire and rapid fire (I guess by the ISSF rules). There was no unique caliber, although most folks shot 9mms (semiautos) and 38 specials (revolvers). Each session had a warmup like, 5 minutes to prepare (aiming, dry firing) and then the referee would give a command to start shooting. First series was a warmup (5 rounds shot) and then we had another 2 series, 5 shots each. After each series we would have to leave the handguns empty and let the referees inspect and read the score. It was simmilar for the rapid session, but instead of 5 minutes preps, we had 3 mins. The precision fire targets were the standard ISSF 25m pistol targets, ![]() but the rapid fire targets were different, with a huge black circle over it: Anyway, in precision fire, I scored 61 points (out of 100) and in rapid fire 57 (a lot better then my first time). I must say most of the guys there were regular competitors and it was a tough competition. I was however, enjoying the whole thing, chatting with some of the club members, observing and hanging around. Here are some pics: ![]() ![]() Can u imagine, I was the only guy with HS-9 (XD-9), everyone else was shooting CZ's and Sig Sauers (both great guns). During the break, I was approached by a couple, guy was asking me about XD (he noticed the XD cap and t-shirt I was wearing We also had free barbeque and drink..yes..well: ![]() We here in Croatia are very serious about gun safety: do NOT drink more then one beer when competing on a shooting range! Anyway, it was really nice, nice people, bit hot (my XD polymer frame just melted) and I just thought I should share this with you guys! Last edited by Breadfan : 06-25-2008 at 07:25 AM. |

Howdy from Croatia (currently in Zagreb on business). I learned it was your independence day the hard way, trying to find an open store at lunchtime today.
Good pics. Hard to believe there weren't any others shooting the HS. Is it not a popular gun in Croatia? |

Is that a fairly typical look of your countryside? If so, it looks a great deal like Missouri! LOL

It looks like a nice range. I am glad you had so much fun. Next time, beer after you shoot. See if that helps or hinders! (Safety disclaimer: Beer after guns locked and stored and away from the range.) Nice countryside, too.

Looks like you had fun and that is the most important thing. It doesn't really matter where you placed, whether it was first, 15th or last. At least you got out there and tried and had fun. Thanks for posting. Loved the pictures of your range and the countryside.

You need to try IDPA or USPSA. Its a lot more faced paced and fun. I started with Bullseye back in College but I would never do it now too boring. But some competition is better than no competition. I am glad you had fun.
