I picked up my XD(m) about 10 days ago, but only have about 100 rounds through it so far. However, I am very happy with it.
I received the little card that says my XD was one of the first 5000 XD(m)s... cool. But I noticed on the Springfield M website that there was supposed to be in a DVD? I am sure the DVD is the same as the videos on their M website, but I am curious, did anyone else get a DVD? Maybe the dealer lost the DVD when they checked in the pistol? Any ideas? -- Jeff |

Can you tell if you got one of the first ones made by looking at the serial? Mine didn't come with a card or anything else but the guy told me that it was one of the first 1000 made. He might just be blowin smoke. I am new to the forum but have to say that I love the xd(m)!

if your barrel says match its after the first 5k. My serial number is MB1015xx, no match on barrel, do have the card, no DVD, no strap. I have seen two prefixes on the XDm pistols. All but one of the guns use an MB prefix on the serial number, I have seen a second prefix somewhere in a photo, that photo was either a promo photo or the gun was a promo gun (I don't remember which). BTW, they are an excellent concealed carry gun.

I don't know of a way to tell for sure. Maybe one of the others will know. If the serial numbers are in sequence, then if your m's serial number is less that 1000 then congrats! Mine is MB1039xx, no 'match'.

The one I'm selling is in the first 5000. I got the card, but no DVD. This is the first I've heard about a DVD.

Because I can't get used to the extra 1/2" barrel lenght. I planned on using it for a carry, but I'm so used to my 4" Service Model, that the XD(M) feels funny to me. If I needed another "range gun", I'd keep it.

You said it's an excellent concealed carry gun.
Does the length of the grip bother you? How many inches of waist do you have to hide it? What holster do you use? |

Mine is also a first-5000 production run XD(M) and no I didn't have a DVD with it. I also noticed the mention of the DVD on the website (see page 4 of this pdf under the inset entitled XD(M) Gear). Like the 3rd magazine in the Guns & Ammo advertisement that is sitting on my desk, I assume I'll never get it. Along with the absence of the word "MATCH" being etched on the barrel I'm guessing these omissions just come with the territory when buying a spanking new model pistol right as it goes to market. SA, I assume is still working out the kinks of marketing and what they will be offering in the total package. I'm not angry or upset by any of it but won't sweep it under the rug for them either.
Shoot the gun and enjoy it. That is my humble n00b advice. If you want a DVD then you can always download the vids from the website and burn them to DVD. A third mag can be had for $30 and the absence of the barrel etching is just further proof of its early production and probably makes it even more of a collector's item. Don't let a screw-up by marketing nerds affect your enjoyment of a fine weapon. |

I just received my new XDm yesterday, and I also received the card stating one of the first 5,000. It was manufactured on May 13, 2008. No DVD included, but I wasn't wanting to watch Rob Leatham, anyway.
