A Really Naughty Question.

So I'll just lay it out here, is there any way to adjust the weight of the trigger pull on an XD .45 ACP myself. I know I know send it to a qualified gunsmith, but financially it is not an option right now. I was able to adjust the trigger pull on my Remington 700 easily and safely, and was just wondering if there is any way to do so with the XD.

Thanks!

213 Views and 1 response so I take it that the spring kit is the way to go. thanks very much for the link, I'll probably save up the 80 and get the springer kit.

Thanks Again!

Owning the XD45 myself has had me studying trigger modification as well and it seems, from all I have read, the trigger kits are the way to go to remain safe and reliable.

I just finished up with the spring kit/sear and the trigger bar. It's GREAT. You have to do alot of fitting with the bar, but it was worth it. I shoot the 5" tactical, but the service model is excatly the same. Don't do the trigger WITHOUT the bar. It's worth the money and time.

Springs are really the only things that affect the weight of the pull. In the XD, there are two springs that matter - the trigger spring and the sear spring. Powder river offers a match spring kit that has both and with a claimed rate of 2 lbs. I installed the Powder River Kit and absolutely love it. Cheap and really easy to install yourself. The only other option to buying different springs is to get some spring wire and make your own springs.

I have the Springer Precision kit, available from Pistol Gear, and love it. It has the springs plus a polished sear. I do not have a trigger pull scale, but my pull "feels" about half what it was. I'm sure the real reduction is more like 25% to 30%, but it feels extremely lighter and it's smoother.

Polish all the internal parts that move against each other, particularly the sear group a in addition to using lighter springs. You can polish to just remove any burrs or polish the sear group so you have no friction between the parts. I have 3# pull on my Tactical and 4# on my Compact. The Tactical has lighter springs the Compact has standard springs.
