I've had the same dilemma. I think the main advantage of snap-caps is to practice malfunction drills, but you can dry fire all you like without 'em. It seems most people I've talked (myself included) to dry fire their pistols more than they actually shoot, mostly without snap-caps. But if it makes you more comfortable, get 'em and use 'em! Can't hurt. Just my $.02.

thats pretty much how i feel about it, but just wanting to make sure there were no major concerns. read some stuff about abusing a pin, but heck that should take thousands upon thousands of dry fires to have any effect.

I got 5 of the A-Zoom aluminum ones (.45acp of course) for $12.00. Seemed like cheap insurance to me.

The striker retainer pin can come loose after dry firing (or firing in general). You can buy more for REAL cheap.

Loves2Shoot, can you extrapolate?
Is there an issue you know of here? I've been told that dry firing does not hurt modern centerfire firearms. However, if there is a possibilty of something coming loose, I'd rather not take the chance of it happening when I need it. |
