First Time Shooting my XD

So I took my new XD45 Tactical out yesterday and noticed something interesting, i was shooting consistently high and left. Now I thought it could be me, so I grabbed one of my HK's(never leave home without 2+ guns ). With my HK tho I was shooting dead on and grouping well.

My groups with the XD were good, it was just shooting high and left, should i assume that it needs to be bore sighted? Or is this something with how I'm holding it since I'm used to a different style?

Maybe it is because both guns have different trigger pulls? I have the same gun as you and it took me a couple of times at the range to get used to it and be dead on. It was different from any other handgun I had shot before.

Could be you could be the gun, i have a couple guns i shoot left with but everyone else shoot them dead on . Try squeezing the trigger with the tip of your finger and concentrate on holding center. Let someone else shoot it and see if it shoots that way for them.
Hope ya get it figured out, keep us posted.

I think I might need a tip there too....
I have 2 yrs with my HS2000, well...as it's my first gun...I've noticed some improvements on my shooting...and then getting more demanding on getting better and better...noticed at the range that I'm shooting a little low sometimes...just a little. people at range told me that I pulling to hard...I was considering making a trigger job...but there ain't too many people that DO this type of things here in DR...or at least someone I can trust enough... .-

I like the Glocks trigger...any advice???

If you can swing getting a laser sight it will tell you exactly what your doing. I couldn`t believe how much that dot moves when i thought i was holding steady and pulling smooth. You can practice trigger pull by dry firing if your gun permits with a laser also.

Benchrest it.

Just use your range bag or a cleaning cloth, or shirt. Lock it down as well as you can and squeeze really slowly. My brand new XD Tactical 45 shoots about 1" left at 7yds, and 2 inches at 15... and 3 at 25... I'm just going to call my local shop and see when the gunsmith will be there. He has a professional sight pusher. I'm a member. It takes 30 seconds in the vice to fix windage. Bring him your benchrest target at 10-15 yards, and he'll fix you up (windage). Elevetion is a different story. My XD9SC hit a bit left from the factory too. I paid a smith $20 to push the sight, then found out my range would do it free...

I believe, speaking to the guys at Springfield, your XD should hit dead-on (right behind the dot on your front sight) at 7 yards, and then a bit higher at 15, and about 2-3" high at 25yds, depending on the load.

The sight heights are set up for a 6 o'clock hold on a regulation 25yd slowfire pistol target, which is combat-POI-hold at 5-7yds.

When i took my CCW class here, we were provided a NRA basic pistol handling book. Part of it was diagnosing stuff like group placement based on hold, trigger pull, etc... I had a similar issue (5 'o' clock group) and working thru what the book described (and our class instructor told me) i was able to bring my groupings right back onto spec. Basically look for shooter error before gun error.

I cannot remember what a 10'o'clock group meant, but it was probably trigger pull or grip related.

here's the book on amazon

I just got mine recently and mine was shooting about 5" low and left. Terrible! I was pulling the trigger very slowly toward the end of the stroke, trying desperately to be accurate. That may have been the problem. When I started using a smooth deliberate trigger stroke all the way through, the problem was corrected.
