Utah's concealed-weapons permit holders
Heads up to everyone. Anti-guners are at it again. Trying to say we're giving out too many permits.
ksl.com - Utah's concealed-weapons permit under scrutiny P.S. Utah is a GREAT state for firearm lovers. Lets keep it that way.

I am a Utah resident and I don't see it as a problem that they are concerned with the number of out of state residents seeking permits.

The Utah phenomenon is just symptomatic of the fact we need a national carry license. Evolver, so you are for or against the antis in this issue? Wasn't really sure by your post.
What is the big issue? I'll bet 1,000 to 1 that the majority of Utah concealed holders never even set foot in Utah. So what reason would any Utah resident have a problem with non-resident permits? It's not like there are going to be a million tourists roaming Utah armed to the teeth! Most people get the Utah permit because of the reciprocity with other states. |

I don't have a problem at all with non residents getting Utah permits. The more the better if you ask me. What concerns me are the people who are bringing this issue up which generated the article. They would like to make it harder to get. They shouldn't be hard to get. Nobody should have to get one a all. I think its great that non-residents can get such reciprocity.

I am from Utah and I am glad we are the best State for its CCW. We are recognized in more States than any other. If out-of-staters want to get our CCW.....more power to them!! Anti gun quacks beware!

The background check issue doesn't make sense as it is required for the application, at least it is at Impact Guns.
Concealed Carry Classes for Utah CFP at Impact Guns Home What of non-residents who live in Utah? We pay rent and taxes and buy food and fuel here just like everyone else, so why shouldn't we have the same privileges toward a permit? The state doesn't seem to care about residency when demanding registration on OHVs, as long as they get every red cent, so why should a permit be any different? And Rusty, hell yeah we need a national license. Allowing states to micromanage concealed permits is ridiculous.

I IS ridiculous lexus. I don't think there should be a permit. We should all be able to carry whenever we think it's nessessary.

I lived in Utah for about 8 years, then moved back to South Carolina... Our CCW law just changed for the better... WE will see how it will affect the CCW holders from other states.

I think that folks need to be very careful with things they read from the media.
Three weeks ago I was in Utah and I live in a 'tangential' state nearby. While planning my trip I did extensive research on their CCW laws. The 'issue' with non-resident permits at that time was that Utah couldn't adequately control the quality of out-of-state instructors. Now it's some nonsense about background checks. And somebody found a malcontent in the Utah DPS to claim they are being overwhelmed with requests; well what government worker hasn't made that complaint? This much I am certain about: Utah's CCW law is under constant threat and attack from the opposition. Pretty common occurrence for most popular 'products'. |
