Not at all. This is a blanket quote referring to any and all dangerous things... it might have been a little more pc if I said "mental stability of the individual" ... sorry for and misunderstandings. A untrained person will hurt themselves before someone who is trained. That goes for ALL things. Children through adults. Training is education. Although not all educated people are safe either.

Even though there are many people out there who have guns not all of them have any education besides which way to point the thing. Thats all im saying.

Reguards..

I try to do my best. Sometimes it gets a little off "kilter" if its misunderstood . I'm just pointing out both sides so we all can move on and enjoy this fun place!

Reguards.

Push, pull, slide, lean, recoil, whatever.... the trigger was moved rearward after it reset each time to make it fire. Saying that's fuel for the anti's is like saying allowing people to carry guns will result in gun fights like the old west. It's an argument based on fear.

lol well put prop. guns dont kill people stupid m'fers with guns kill people.. i live in a town of 6000, when my wife worked at the sherrifs office as a jailer/dispatcher one of her idiot co workers borrowed a full auto m4 and took one of her other co workers to the range. no one was around and magically "poof!!!" a federal agent (not sure what agency) showed up and took the rifle and of course the guys didnt even get a slap on the wrist, they just shook their fingers at them and told them it was a no no and not to do it again. now that is bad for business. knowing that some idiots, i went to school with both of these guys, can get away with shooting full auto firearms without the legal owners there. Does this mean that i can go borrow one and not get in trouble? absolutely not, i can guarantee you that if it was me, im pretty positive on this one, they would have buried me under the jail. i would have been on the odessa texas news and all that good stuff. people like that give people like me a bad name. actually they give all of us a bad rep.

Back in 1934, the Antis had reached their limit with certain kinds of weapons being used in criminal activities. One of them was the machine gun. So they decided to tax them so they could regulate them.

They thought that they had a good definition and here is what they came up with:

(b) Machinegun. -- The term "machinegun" means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.

What they wanted to stop was weapons with very high cyclic rates of fire like the Thompson submachine gun which had become very popular with criminals during Prohibition.

Semi-automatic weapons were not machine guns because you had to keep pulling the trigger which limited how many rounds you could shoot. That was enough to satisfy the antis at that time and has been sufficient until now.

Today clever people figure out how to take a rubber band and cause the gun's own energy to do what your muscles can't do... that is to fire at a sustained very high cyclic rate. Even more clever people figure out how to use their thumb and finger and belt loop to cause the same thing to happen. Some even more clever folks can do it without the belt loop.

Each shot is a "single function of the trigger" so they say that life is good. Happily they have fun spraying out mounds and mounds of ammo at high cyclic rate just as if they had a genuine machine gun. Some advocates even call it the "poor man's machine gun".

Technology even allows the rapid dissemination of VIDEOS of people engaging in the activity and TEACHING it to others. Children can do it and are shown in videos with AR15's bumping up the cyclic rate. Life is really good!

We have the protection of the law... "a single function of the trigger". It's OK. So have at it. Publicize it. Share it. Life is GREAT!

But then comes along a bad bad anti-fun legislator who deletes the words, "automatically" and "a single function of the trigger." Now the law reads:

(b) Machinegun. -- The term "machinegun" means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot more than one shot, without manual reloading. The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.

How is life now?
