California Members Please Take Action!

This is an update on Assembly Bill 2062...

Dangerous Anti-Gun Bills Moving Forward in California Senate!

Please Make Your Voice Heard Today!

Three anti-gun bills are making their way through the California Senate and it is imperative that you voice your opposition to them.

Assembly Bill 2062 was passed by the Senate Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, June 17. The bill now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee for its consideration.

Sponsored by State Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB2062 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a "handgun ammunition vendor" in the Department of Justice's database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require vendors to keep a record of the transaction including the ammunition buyer's name, driver's license, the quantity, caliber, type of ammunition purchased, and right thumbprint, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. All ammunition sales in the state of California would be subject to a $3 per transaction tax. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited. Any violator of AB2062 would be subject to civil fines.

kalifornia is a lost cause. if they cant completely outlaw guns, they will do anything they can to screw gun owners. frankly, im surprised they havent just said guns are ok, however it is illegal to discharge a firearm unless you are active duty leo or .mil

I meant to post this in Chatter Box but either way...

Yes, the laws here are all messed up but I'm still going to make some calls to see what the general consensus is with the Senators on the contact list.

Update: Spoke To Senator Dave Coxs' Office

This should help everyone save some time...

Dave Cox does oppose this bill but his office did give me the Appropriations Committee names to call and contact. It's very easy, just dial the number and let them know you urge them to oppose AB-2062.

If this bill passes the Apporpriations committee it goes to the Senate floor, not sure what the chances of it passing there are but with the way this state is ANTI 2nd AMENDMENT it probably has a good chance of getting passed.

Take 5 minutes, call the numbers, you'll be glad you did.

Call these numbers...

-Cedillo
-Corbett
-Florez
-Kuehl (definitely)
-Oropeza
-Simitian
-Yee
-Torlakson

My Dad's expression about "Pi$$ing into a fan" comes to mind trying to find any common sense here.

You know what they're doing is chasing the law-abiding, [deleted] people out of the state. I can't tell you how many I know who are planning to move out, they've had enough.

It's almost half and half right now so every call does count...sorry to see you feel that you can't do anything about it. Just let it happen and then move out of state.

I'm not a Kalifornian, but I am going to butt in. Making a few phone calls is not pointless, time and again I hear from political staff that those letters and phone calls are counted and legislators do notice. They may not change their mind, but they do notice.

The other argument is that it is better to die fighting than laying down - I think that applies here as well. Better to lose rights while kicking and screaming than while shrugging ones shoulders.

I called the top 2, since my state senator is not on the committee.

State Senator Tom Torlakson's office took the call/comment.

State Senator Dave Cox's office said he was opposed to the bill, and asked for my phone # so my call could be formally logged. It makes me wonder if that is the rule, if #1 really cared?

Also called:

-Cedillo
-Corbett
-Florez
-Kuehl
-Oropeza
-Simitian
-Yee
-Torlakson
