Oddly enough, pretty much. LOL I must admit, I have done the same thing. The XD is pickier about this than any other guy I've ever used. thats' why it'd never be acceptable for an Army gun. Just way not idiot proof enough.

i know in the other thread it was mentioned why there was no bevel on the lug my. 2008 xd9sc has a bevel on the lug for the guide rod to sit in. it's almost impossible for it to not sit straight

Same Here!
I did it less than one hour after getting home with my XD45 Service.
Called SA Customer Service and Scott walked me through the "cresent wrench & mallet" routine. It has not happened since. Just love the weapon.

Our country has most of it's best and brightest being used for cannon fodder every day, and unless you have been there, you will never know. Also, you would be very surprised what the American Army would consider to be an "acceptable" weapon. Remember the m-16, or the 1911 trials? Anyway, thanks for the insight on the stuck barrel problem. Illuminating. As for myself this has not happened yet, thanks to this sticky, it never will.

the M9 barettas we have really are garbage. they are so used and abused. majority of them "fire" on safe and **** on safe. which one of the civilian armourers told us that most of the time the cocking on safe is from the buffer spring being worn out or to short. to check, you put the slightest pressure on the front of the slide and pull foward the hammer will fall.
definately need something new.

XD45C stuck slide
I'm gonna just send it into SA next week and hopefully the experts can fix my screw-up. This doesn't diminish my opinion of the pistol however I think that for what one shell's out for handguns nowadays, they can at least make them stupid proof. I will re-emphasize that this is my fault and not the handgun. |

I have an XD-40 and an XD-45 and LOVE them so I bought my 18 Y/O Son his own XD-45 a few weeks ago and I STRESSED to him to make sure the Guide Rod is centered when puts his gun back together.
So far it has worked and I started my 2 Sons and Duaghter shooting at age 4 and they were tearing their own guns down at 9-10 years old and they are pretty good at everything when it comes to guns, safety included because they hunted on their own when they turned 12 Let us know how the Springfield return trip works out & if they charge and what it cost to ship Thank You Very much |
