Grip Safety: Negatives?

1. I was wondering if anyone thought there were any negatives to having a grip safety on the XD?

2. If not, could you think of a possible scenario in which having a grip safety would become a negative?

Weird questions but I was wondering..

Also, since I've been on the forums, I really haven't seen many of the "regulars" speak much about what they dislike about the XD. What don't you like about this line of pistols?

Thanks in advance

The only negative I could think of would be having an oddly shaped hand that coincidentally is deformed right where the grip safety is, not allowed it to be disengaged.

For everyone else, no problems.

I did hear a story about some moron who taped his so he could shoot without a proper grip on the gun, if that's your cup of tea. TBH, if you don't have a good enough grip to disengage the grip safety, you're probably not hitting what you're aiming at in the first place.

i cant think of any negative reasons for the grip saftey. i mean its too easy.. its there and its like its not at the same time. but regardless its an extra saftey but does not hinder performance in any way. better safe than sorry right?

and not that have all that much experience in handguns, but i do know my two xd's. here are a couple of things i had an issue with.

1. my xd9sc the mag would stick on release, but after shooting about 400 rnds through it that went away, guess it just had to break in.

2. i shot low and to the left with my .45 but i just wasnt very good at shooting then. after i got used to it, it was good.

The XD 45C is the more versatile gun

Grip safety is very well designed and very easy to PROPERLY engage. Try a high handhold on a regular 1911 - you have trouble engaging the thumb safety - not so with the XD. People who cannot use it well either have a deformed hand or do not know how to hold a pistol.

The only negative I see in it is that you have to have it fully depressed to rack the slide.

The only negative I see is if the rest of the polymer pistol crowd had them they would all be one step closer to an XD.

How could a grip safety be negative? I mean, in any instance you can think of, a proper shot at any target would only hit its target if the gun is properly aimed. Aimed fire only occurs with correct grip. Correct grip disengages the grip safety automatically.

If one doesnt have a proper grip on a handgun and good aim is not available, why in the heck would you bother to take the shot?

1 thing that can be a negiatve on the XD is while the double captive recoil spring(3/4" models. 5" has single, and I can not speak for it) can reduce recoil, it can be very difficult for most of the woman(weaker people in general) to cycle a round to chamber a round.

As for the safeties, they are perfect. If you drop a 1911, it can go off. if you drop an XD all the safeties are engaed before it hits the ground. Not that you should ever drop you gun.
