3 Color night sights for my xd?
I'm want to start shooting with both eyes open. Of course, when doing that I see more than two dots on the back of the pistol so it's tough to make out which set of dots to put my front sight between. I was wondering if you could get night sights with each dot a different color. Then, I would know which pair of dots to align my front sight in with.
For instance, if the two back dots were red and blue (left to right) and the front sight green, then I would put the front green sight in between the red and blue set of dots I see to my right (in my particular case). I know this is strange, just wondering if they make sights in this configuration. Oh, I've also thought about Sure Sights. It might be more natural to line up the triangle with both eyes open than it would be to line up 3 dots. Thanks! |

Ummm, it appears you need to study the basics of sight picture and alignment. You should not be having the problem you are if you have the basics down. You focus on the front sight, you basically shouldn't even be seeing the rear in focus. I'm having a hard time understanding your "problem".

Of course, this isn't a problem closing one eye but I'm trying to learn how to shoot with both eyes open. I hope I made more sense. |

Maybe an eye dominance problem? I see my sights , but also see a "reflection", or the sights from my left eye as well, lower and to the right. Or maybe you need to move your firearm/stance a little more to the right to easier line up with your right eye. (Obviously spoken by a right hander)

Open both eyes. Point your finger to an object on a wall. Focus on the object on the wall. Notice how many "fingers" are in your blurred vision. There are probably two. One is a "ghost image" because you have two eyes open.
The same thing happens when looking at the front sight of a pistol with both eyes open. For most people (not all) there will be 4 rear dots. |

Maybe you have the gun too close to your eyes, then. I see only one set, regardless of which eyes I have open. I only notice the "double vision" on objects that are very close to my eyes.

I'm right handed, left eye dominant. Shooting a pistol, shotgun or my bow I close my left eye or else all heck breaks loose.
To answer your question, there are suppliers of different color fiber optic materials, I know several guys who've updated/ replaced theirs on the sights on their compound bows. Replacement Fiber Optics -Flourescent Fiber - Archery Sights Replacement Fiber Optics :: Keystone Country Store Cabela's -- Truglo® Replacement Fiber Optic - .029 I don't know the diameter of the TFO fiber optic, or if it's a good idea to do, but there's a few places to get it. If it's like on my compound bow or duck hunting shotgun, you cut it to length, heat the end with a match to make a small ball, and you're ready to go. I assume TFOs would be the same, if you can match the diameter.

I think your eyes and brain are working differently than most, honestly.
If your seeing a ghost image of your fingers, at arms length, it seems to me that you don't have a dominance of one eye over the other like most people do. I don't know, weird problem... I think you should see an eye doctor about this and see what he has to say. Ghosting at arms length isn't normal if you ask me. Quote:
