Powder River Precision trigger job with measurements

At the risk of repeating myself from the original thread on how to install the PRP trigger safety bar and overtravel stop

http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/hs2000-...avel-stop.html

Here's the after measurements for pre-travel, releasing the sear to fire, and over-travel when I was finished. Less than 4/10 inch of total trigger movement end-to-end, about what my pre-travel was before. I've not been to the range with it yet, but looking forward to trying it out.

I want to add, Daniel was great at talking me through not only the overtravel stop adjustment process, but also the takedown and reassembly of the trigger sear/ rear-end of my XD for the first time. By the 3d time I'd done it (1x to install, 1x to do it again for practice, 1x to take it apart when done and polish the sides of the sear, his piece and the ejector), I was feeling like a pro- but not ready to try it with a blindfold on.

Very nice. Similar to my results with the kit, though my overtravel is set to ~ 0.075 inch. I may actually adjust the overtravel stop to allow a little more because it basically feels like my trigger breaks and then doesn't move at all.

Great kit, HIGHLY recommended. Shot my XD and a Kimber 1911 over last weekend, and the Kimber's trigger was only slightly better (IMHO). That's amazing considering where the XD trigger starts. Scored the same with both guns at 25'.

The impact of a thousandth of an inch on the overtravel stop on the overtravel is more than that on the trigger, due to the mechanics of the linkage. I like it as-is, and wondered if I'd sanded a couple thousandths 'too much' off, but any less and I think my comment would be the same as yours.

You're all welcome on the thanks. Fun project. I love it when a plan comes together. I've got to get to the range asap and try it out.

Exactly. Even a little off on the overtravel stop can make a large difference, so my advice to others is TAKE IT SLOW.

I filed it to where I could only barely get the trigger to pull, then took out some emery cloth and 'refined' it with just a very small amount taken off each attempt.

I've only put one box or so down the barrel since finishing mine, once I get some more testing in, if I need to tune it more I'll use your measurements as a guide on where to expect it to be. Thanks!

One thing I did do, following somebody's suggestion (thanks to you, whoever it was) when checking the fit of the overtravel piece, was to install the locking block when checking the trigger and overtravel piece to be sure everything in the trigger are was lined up exactly as it would be when shooting.

This is a great forum and opportunity to both learn, and share experience with others. Be safe, and good shooting.

I can see why people rave about this simple modification. Just got mine and installed it. Even without the overtravel stop, the trigger break is sooooooo much nicer. Can't beat it for $35. The overtravel bit definitely needs to be fitted though, but that was easy enough to accomplish.

Great writeup on the install by the way.
