Guide rod gap..... Is this normal?

This is my first thread here, i wanna start off by saying this site has been very valuable in researching and choosing my first handgun. I dont think i could have found a nicer place on the web! I've ran 580 rounds through my XD 9 and so far the performance has been awesome and error free. While out having some fun and shooting 100 rounds my buddy noticed how far my guide rod sticks out and brought it to my attention and asked if it was normal on the XD, he doesnt own a XD but just thought this gap looked kinda odd. I told him i had thought i had seen some pictures of XD 9's that looked like that but i could be dead wrong. Is this normal or is it something that needs to be taken care of by Springfield? THanks in advance.

My .45 is out like that, hard to tell if its the same distance because the center of my rod is thicker being a .45. But it looks to be about the same.

Nothing to worry about IMO.

It's a stand off thing. They designed it to have a little clearance in case you have to have the gun PB. designed that way.
