The first-aid kit in my bag is in a mesh pocket on the end so ANYBODY other than me can see it and find it instantly/easily. It doesn't need to be a GSW to make a first-aid kit usefull.

Helpful tip: in the event of a GSW I find it helpful to shoot the victim in an extremity far away from the original GSW, this aids in distracting the victim from the original wound as well as lessening blood loss from the original wound ( total blood loss may be equal or greater than the single wound YMMV )

uh...ammunition, a silicone cloth, eyes and ears, and a small can of break free (for whatever reason). When I take the blackhawk, I also have a small screwdriver set.

This has been a very helpful thread since I've never had a range bag, but quickly realized my need for one. I used my backpack which wasn't an optimal solution on the XD40SC's maiden range trip. It's good to see what you guys carry to the range.

I've been doing a some range bag shopping online, but it's always hard to judge size. One interesting option I found was the Oakley Small Duffel. One feature that sounds cool is the "Adaptable PayloadŽ interface" which "lets you attach and reconfigure to carry just what you need." Since we have an Oakley store close I'm hoping they stock these and I can see one in person before I decide on it. I was looking at the XD Gear bag on the SA site, but my need to show my XD pride is overriden by the fact the bag looks very cheap and there are zero details about it on the site.

Basically I forsee myself packing my XD40SC case, S&W Shooting Glasses, Slim Folding muffs, small bottle of gun oil, ballpoint pen, ammo (after CHL cert.), and still having room for another gun case when I expand my collection.

I have a small handgun bag that i carry my Ruger P95 and XD9sc in, and it has 6 slots for mags and one in each gun, so i carry 2 10 round mags, 2 15 round mags, 2 16 round mags, and a 20 rounder, and 30 rounder... In the front pocket, i carry about 100 rounds of ammo, (the mags alone carry about another 130 rounds), and my two easy loaders, earplugs. In my rifle bag, i carry the rifle, 2 25 round mags, and a 10 rounder, and i have allen wrenches inside the pistol grip.

I would suggest getting a bigger range bag than you think you will need....they fill up fast. I really like the MidwayUSA range bag: MidwayUSA - MidwayUSA Competition Shooting Range Bag Nylon Black

Its $39 right now and is equal to others that run over $100. Unless its simply too large for your needs its as good as it gets for the price. I like the fact that its really two bags in one: You can stick the main bag out of the way and just keep the inner bag with you while you shoot to keep frequently used items close.
