XD9SC vs Glock 19

Anyone have both of these weapons? I'm debating on trading in my XD for the Glock, just want to know how it compares to the SC so far as accuracy goes out to 25yds. I'm not a bad shot, but my groups out from 20 yds are miserable with the XD, and not getting any better with practice. Any comparison would be great.

your pistol is to help you shoot your way to your rifle.. you should not be taking 25yd shots with your pistol in any self defense situation. That equation changes when you are a LEO or Military. In AZ they are more likely to prosecute even in defensive situation if the shooting is over 7ds(21ft). XD's are not target guns.. Though some can shoot them like they are.

The G9 is a fine pistol, Accuracy should be comparable even better than the SC due to barrel length and sight radius. The majority of modern pistols out there will shoot more accurately than their operators usually can.

The XDSC will be easier for most to CC.. either will make a great SD pistol.

Good luck with your decision, and welcome to the forum

Seems to me the G26 would be a better comparison, unless you are just looking to move up to a larger gun. Either way, you cannot go wrong with a G19.
As far as accuracy goes, you may be able to shoot the Glock better, because of the longer sight radius, but that says nothing about the potential accuracy of either gun.

The model 19 should be really easy to find as a rental and you should shoot them back to back. I was choosing between the two and found that I shot better with the xdsc at any distance up to 25 yards, especially when I needed to aim quickly. Everyone shoots differently I suppose so try them both out.

Typically the G19 would be more accurate merely because of the longer sight radius. Better comparisons would be XD9SC vs G26 or XD9 Service vs G19 due to the comparable sizes.

My XD9SC is not the most accurate, but works well enough. Surprisingly however... my smaller EMP is vastly more accurate. While the 1911 platform and SA trigger are likely contributors, the match fit barrel and hand fit slide surely add to that.

I prefer carrying my G19 over the XD9SC. But my most carried, and most trusted are my P7M8, EMP, and now my baby pocket gun LCP.

Thanks fellas. Surprisingly, I don't think the 26 and the XDSC are more comparable to be honest. The XD is bulkier, thicker, and heavier than the G26, and besides the barrell length and slight grip difference, I think the XD can compare to a G19 pretty well. I haven't gotten to shoot the Glock, and no one I know has one to shoot. I know a few guys that carry the G23, and concealability isn't a real issue for them. I'm not big, (5'11" 195) but I know that with the proper leather and shirt, I can conceal it plenty. Just wondering if someone that has owned or shot both can give me an opinion on which one they shoot better?

All measurements are from the respective companies websites.

Glock 19 Length 6.85
height 5.00
weight empty 20.99 oz.
Mag Capacity 15 rounds ( Glock 17 mag holds 17 rounds)

XD-9 sc Length 6.25
height w/ compact mag 4.75 w/ service mag 5.5
weight empty w/ compact mag 26 oz. w/ service mag 27 oz.
Mag capacity w/ compact mag 10 rounds w/ service mag 16 rounds

The Glock 26 is 6.29" lenght x 4.17" height.
The Glock 19 is 6.85 x 5.00.
The Glock 17 is 7.32 x 5.43.
The Glock 34 is 8.15 x 5.43.

The XD subcompact is 6.25 x 4.75.
The XD service is 7.3 x 5.50.
The XD tactical is 8.30 x 5.50.

The glock 19 is not that much larger than an XD subcompact. It fits in as a compact between a subcompact and a service model.

Same old answer then, buy what you like. They are all good firearms.

I have the XD9SC and a Glock 19. I like the G19 but love my XD9sc. I like the grip safety and the trigger better than the G19. I can shoot better with the XD because the Glock grip angle makes me shoot high. I've shot too many 1911s over the years.

So the real question is:

Does anyone want to trade their G19 for an XD Subcompact?
