Porting does not reduce any recoil at all (actually in some cases, it can add to it a little bit), but because it can so drastically reduce muzzle flip many people feel it shoots a bit tamer.

Kind of like doing some small mod to your car and just swearing it added HP, but when you dyno it you see that it really didn't... it just made it feel a bit more responsive.

I absolutely love my V10, and the slide cracking issues are WAY OLD, and new production has no problems.

Enjoy your new gun.

Instead of posting my pics AGAIN, here is a link to my custom V10:Xd 40 V-10

Im one for porting that it does make a noticable difference in felt recoil. My follow up shots are much more accurate and easier to keep on target.

heres a link about the 9mm ported v-10's breaking, i posted a pic of my 9 that broke and one of my new .40 that is still working.

Yet another broken 9mm V-10

Interesting thread .... It's gonna go in circles as long as people keep using recoil and muzzle climb interchangably

Porting as BanditSRT8 stated, does not really affect recoil. There may be a perception that it does, but it does not truly affect recoil.

Porting does affect muzzle climb, therefore follow up shots may occur quicker and this does depend on the individual.

But it's really hard to say anyone is right when using these terms ... Magna-port (an Industry Leader in port design) even mixes the terms as they describe recoil andn muzzle climb. But they did get this part correct.IMO, mobius1 .... You should get the one you want and not worry about what others tell you about this subject and/or gun. If it feels good in your hand, and you like the way it looks .... Buy it. It's always better to test shoot if possible, but thats not always possible.

SA has one of the best warranties in the business, and IMO they addressed the issue of slides cracking a few years ago.

I've shot both XD9 & XD9 V-10 in comparison and definatly noticed the difference with reciol/muzzle flip even the same with the .40cal.
