Im new to this so sorry for the noob question but do you have to field strip the xd9 when cleaning with the bore snake? Or can you just lock the slide back and use it as is?

I use the boresnake right after I'm done firing to help with clean up later. I don't feel a need to field strip it unless it's time for a full cleaning. Lock back the slide and run it through and you should be fine.

I call it a quick clean... bore snake and rag wipe the inner parts and wipe the clean down . Put away for the week. Field strip clean every other week or when needed.

If you lock the slide open and feed the boresnake up through the empty mag-well it will do a nice job of cleaning the feed ramp right along with the chamber and barrel
