The cheapest one my dealer is offering has 3 mags and is $375 before tax and background check fee. I don't think it even includes the original case or XD gear. Is this still a good deal, or should I pass it up? He says he sells new ones for $475.

I never even use my case. It takes up space in the closet until the day when I might have to sell my xd or send it back to the factory.

Yeah, I hear ya there! I guess I'd just like to have the original stuff in case I ever resold it. People will want to point out that I DON'T have certain things in order to lower the price on me. Plus, I'd like it to include the XD gear which would indicate that it's a newer model, not one of the first ones that supposedly had rusting problems.

Mine was refinished under warranty and I even got a new pair of night sights out of it (cause they killed them If it's that big of a deal to not have the additional accessories and box/manual and stuff then try to use that to negotiate a lower price. Tell him $325 is more fitting because it's an older model (doesn't have the melonite coating) and the accessories (mag holder and holster) and it doesn't have the factory lock, box, or manual. Then negotiate up to $350, or start lower if you're feeling brazen.

Tell me; are the older models worse off than the ones that include the XD gear, or are they the same. I'm just assuming they're updated somehow to cure the rust issues, but I don't know that. Is it true? |

I purchased a slightly used, only about 200 rds, XD9 for $399 w/equip & 3 mags for my son.
I have a couple of questions: What is the purpose of the gun? Range/CCW What caliber is the gun? I'm going against the grain here but I'm thinking to let that go and wait. Something else will come along. I waited and I recently bought the XD45C for $500 w/equip. It worked for me. |

The purpose of it would be mostly home defense, with the option of carrying when possible/necessary.
It is 9mm. Actually, I ended up making the purchase yesterday, and it was the very first gun I'd ever bought from a gun shop! I was thrilled that the background check passed! I had some doubts about it, not knowing what info. they had access to (no, I'm not a felon). Now, I'm enduring the pain and suffering of the 48 hour waiting period. As of tomorrow (possibly Friday if I can't get there by closing time), I will be a genuine XD owner for the first time! I will truly then be a cardholding (gunholding) member of XDtalk! |

I love living in a state where I can walk out with the gun when I pay for it! But either way, you are going to be thrilled and I really don't think you should have any concerns about a used XD. Now go buy some ammunition and be ready to head to the range!

Although I know how we can sometimes make an "emotional purchase" which might happen on your first ever gun purchase. I've already been through that and still have to fight the urge! Enjoy it as the XD9 I bought is also my sons HD weapon for now. If you have the 4" barrel Service Model get some good HD ammo. I could recommend either the Winchester Ranger T's or Speer Gold Dots either in the 124+p or 147 gr. (+p especially for barrel less than 4"). Just my $.02 Everyone here will have their own recommendations but these two should be high on everyone's list. |
