Any word on XDM Compact release?
Looking for a carry gun and the full sizae XDM is just a bit to big for me to lug around all day. Ive read alot of posts about the XDM on this forum, and Ive heard alot of people say theyre going to wait until they come out with a XDM45 but nobody has asked about a .40 XDM compact version. Any news from the grapevine?

I havent heard anything. It might take a long time, havent even heard of other caliber choices yet. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can only get it in 40 S&W right now.

I'd wait until the 9mm comes out long before you start thinking about a compact.

You got to remember that the XDm was designed as a competition pistol. Which is why it was released in .40 first and in match form. Following the logic, I doubt they will have a compact version or .45 for that matter. It just won't match with 1911's.

I hope they make a compact in 9, 40, and 45 because I want this for a carry gun, and I won't carry a full size.
Many feel the same. C'mon Springfield... my money is right here, just come and take it!!

I go agree that the M was designed for competition/range and not for carry. I doubt that you will see a compact model. You are probably more likely to see updates to the original XD line, which I hope does NOT happen!

From what I was told by the local gun store jerks was that the 9mm version wouldn't be out for at least another 1.5 years.
Please do notice that these claims are completely unfounded and that it was probably just the gun store type blowing smoke up my ass trying to get me to buy a .40. They didn't say anything about a compact/sub. |

Thanks for the responses guys.
I would agree that the XDM is more of a competition type gun then another poly carry gun, but it does have features like the tactical rail that would put it in the home-defense category. If Springfield does in fact consider the XDM to be their competition series poly gun, I would disagree that they wouldnt make a compact or subcompact versions because of this. People want accurate innovative carry weapons. Case in point, me. Right when the XDM came out I was about to place an order for a compact XD with a match grade bbl and a bunch of other options for a carry gun. The reason why is I want an incredibly accurate semi-match gun with carry gun features. If they do decide to come out with compact and sub-compact veresions I'll give you 10:1 they will outsell the full size XDM. Does anybody have any TOP SECRET information about the XDM regarding the compact versions? |
