Shooting low
Ok, I know it would be best to post a picture of the target but I have finally just given up on trying after an hour (computer/camera illiterate
I went through 100 rounds of WWB .40 today. I am using a Wally World cheapo target, Score Keeper by Champion. almost half were in the black rings numbered 7,8,9 with 8 of them being in the bullseye (@ 10 yards). Approx 35 were straight down from the center in the 5 & 6 rings & the rest, except for one stray, straight down from that on the bottom of the target. I was shooting with the "Point of Aim" method. SA recomends the "6 o'clock" position. Had I shot with the 6 o'clock position I would have had half in the same place that they are now (below bullseye) the other half would have not been on the target. What am I doing wrong that would make me shoot half the time straight down & low? I saw a target posted on here one time that was cut like a pie that had comments posted in each "slice" for shots not in the bullseye. |

They have those targets here. There's a left-handed version and a right-handed one.
It may just be getting used to it. I spent several hours and about 100 rounds going from everything high to center. At first I thought it was the new XD, but after practicing and going back to my roots of shooting, I got it to do this and was much happier. ![]() That one outside the black, I pulled really badly and knew it as soon as it fired. What are you shooting? I was taught that if many stray down low and maybe a little left then it is anticipating recoil which you tend to push the gun down. Once I was shooting my 357 Sig and after about 300 rounds I noticed I was pulling a lot of my shots low, not all but about 30%. When I took my time and analyzed it, I was pushing the gun just before the shot.

Don't feel bad, my wife and I had the same problem trying to post a pic here last night, I guess were both inept when it comes to using this sites picture insert.
"Approx 35 were straight down from the center in the 5 & 6 rings & the rest, except for one stray, straight down from that on the bottom of the target." Anyways, I had a chart to show, but I guess I can just explain that it may mean you are breaking wrist down, or relaxing too soon, if the shots are straight down. Low left, jerking trigger, or squeezing finger tips while applying trigger pressure. Low right, squeezing whole hand with trigger pull. Do some dry fire, and check yourself.

The trick is you have to post the picture to something web-accessible. I have a personal domain with web-hosting space, so I put mine there. You can also use sites like Photobucket and ImageShack which should give you the BB (bulletin board) code to insert it here. Basically, you just surround the URL of the picture with <IMG></IMG> (except use the square brackets).

After you mentioned it, I think that you may be right about anticipating the recoil. I tried dry firing it & noticed that I am pulling low every now & then. I have only had the gun for a few months (first real handgun-I have a buckmark, some shotguns, rifles) and have only shot approx 250 rounds through it. You know what they say, practice makes perfect (& will probably help with my pulling problem) |

Hello all new member here.
I have found that anticipating the shot will do this. Also how your finger is placed on the trigger, like stated above. When you dry practice try to have the trigger directly in the center of your finger print. This was my problem. I also was anticipating the shot thus pushing the muzzle down. Point in, hard focus on the front sight, (Correct finger placement) slack out, press - same amount of pressure all the way to the shot break, make sure that you are getting a surprise break, trap the trigger. Reevaluate where your finger is placed, and back out to the reset. "...rinse and repeat" When you are 5 minutes through your dry practice or at the range, look at the palm of your hands. If you have the grip marks embedded into your hands and they are bright red, you are gripping to hard. 10 minutes of dry practice a day you'll iron out things. |

Open a free account on photobucket.com, and upload your pictures there. Then there will be a link, which if you look carefully, has "" after the URL, which "tells" the browser to display the picture from that server, with the text from the xdtalk server.
