I got a Dumb question, isn't the .40 cal Magazine adifferent size than the 9MM magazine? Will the .40 Magazine fir in the grip of the 9MM?

This is why they made the XD-M the original XD-40 was built using the XD-9 frame thus is uses magazines with the same internal width (just different width feed lips) as the 9mm thus you only get 12rds in the 40S&W magazine when most other 40S&W handguns (with proper width magazines) get upwards of 15-16rd in the same length magazine. See picture bellow.



The problem with converting and XD-9 to and XD-40 is the breech face is too narrow on the XD-9 to accept the larger diameter 40S&W case head. You can go the other direction because the 9mm is smaller in diameter and will fit in the larger breach face. Occasionally this sloppy fit of the 9mm in the 40S&W breach face cause extraction problems.

The mag will fit, the barrel will NOT!!!
