Need instructions for installing Hogue grip

+ one one raising it and cutting the notch + one on the hairspray but clean the slip on with rubbing alcohol first and a little heavy on the hair spray. If it ever loosen up re apply the same way,

You can kinda see the roughness of the cut I made. But it's a carry gun not a safe queen.

Click for bigger pics.

jeep, thx for posting the pics. Now that I'm home and able to look at it, it looks like I cut too much off the top. I'll just buy another one and start from scratch.

I normally wouldn't like any colored grip other than black but that brown looks pretty snazzy if I do say so myself. I bet it would look even better up against some desert camo BDU's.

Given the popularity of the XD I am surprised that some enterprising soul has not come out with a pre-cut XD slip on grip.

Did it stay in place without the hair spray ?

I was easily able to apply some force and move the grip wrap further up the grip.

Yes but did it stay in place,

Thanks, Keith

So far yes. It seems to be much harder to take off than put on for some reason. But that is just from practice draws and working the slide, ect, ect. I'll have a more definite answer the next time I go to the range.

I haven't put one on an XD before, but I did put one on a Glock and a Ruger P95. I submerged it in superhot water first...the water acted as a lubricant and the heat softened it up so it moved. Used a hair dryer to keep it pliable about halfway through.
