Conceal Carry - Glock vs. XD
I have owned both Glocks and XD's (currently have XD45Tac. and XD40Service) in recent years. I used to carry a G26 and went to a SW 637. Now I am wanting to get back into the semi-auto pistols.
With that said, the XD is shorter in length, whereas, the Glock is shorter in height. To the people who has tried concealing both, which is easier? I would install the pearce extension, if that makes any difference. Pictures would be helpful, and comments/suggestions are welcomed. Thanks, Scott |

The rank of importance to me is grip length (height), width or thickness, and then barrel length. With some the first 2 are switched but barrel length isnt as important to most. Thats why you'll see some carrying full size 1911s.
I have a G26 and it disappears when I wear it appendix carry.

Thanks for the reply.
How is the width of the G26 related to the XD sub. Has anyone tried both? What are your opinions of each? |

I think a XD 45 compact will meet your needs exceedingly, 4" shorter Grip by 3/4".
You can even get it in a 5" tactical barrel. I have one and love it. My GF has the XD 45 compact and loves it I also have a Taurus PT745 Millinium Pro which is a single stack 3" sub-compact I carry this a lot more in the summer or when I want a deep concealment. I don't do glocks (or want to) so I can't say anything about them

I've carried both my XD-40 service model and a Glock 22, to me neither was more generally concealable.
The biggest thing I've found is to make sure you find a holster that works well with your gun and your body. I personally use a Bianchi model 82 and it works perfect: 82 *CarryLok™ |

i can easily conceal my xd9 service...i would imagine a glock would be similarly easy to conceal...

the glocks have shorter grips in the subcompacts... That'd be easier to conceal, plus i think they're lighter. But I'm more accurate with the XD, so i have a XD9sc

I'm a pretty huge fan of the G19.. it's a "compact" I think... not quite sub. It's very very easy to conceal.

I'll carry my XD just for the added safety of the grip safety.

I haven't CCed with any but I would probably prefer the XD because of the grip safety as well. But then again the Glock is lighter. *shrugs* I'll catch up with you in two months when I buy my Glock 22/23.
