Is it worth it? That depends on the factory trigger. On this XD40 Service that I bought, it only had around 200 through it and the trigger felt gritty. On the XD45 I bought that had less than 500, the trigger was already smooth. If yours is smooth, I wouldn't bother unless you just want to tinker with the gun.

My 2 XD45 Compacts - 4" and 5", have had trigger jobs done by Rich @ Canyon Creek. My XD9SC is up there right now for him to do his magic on. I have them all at 4.5 lbs as they will all be used for CCW.

My .45 tactical had a large amount of pre travel when I bought it. So I purchased a Springer Precision trigger upgrade kit from PISTOLGEAR | YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP FOR ALL THINGS PISTOL ($80). Includes a new sear and spring kit, took me about 10 minutes to put it in, using directions from this forum. And it has helped tremendously!

Powder River in my XD45 Tactical which is primarily a range gun and Bob Hostetter sear and lightened springs in my XD45 Compact carry gun.

Before anyone gets the wrong opinion the Powder River Kits and Springer Kits great things to improve the XD's trigger travel and reset. The gunsmiths like Canyon Creek, Springer Precision, Powder River and others add their experience and skill to creating a finely tuned gun. If you like to tinker these kits are great but the added work done by these gunsmith create amazing guns and they should not be discounted. These kits are examples of how good these guys are.

The ideas you guys have are just what I was looking for. Just some options. I am going to try something on my XD-9 for now and see how it goes. Now that I have 3 XDs and 3 glocks I can see why XDs are so popular. I like to shoot the XDs more. My glocks are packed away in my safe. I guess i'll have to get them out and give them some love. Thanks guys. Keep the ideas coming.
