Just how "GOOD" can the XD trigger get?

Been reading on the Springer Precision trigger parts and was wondering just how nice it makes the trigger? Of all the pistols I have the XD has the worst trigger, it feels like mush and no matter how easy and smooth I pull it when dry firing when the sear trips the front sights ALWAYS jump down and to the left a tiny amount, none of my other guns do that. Will a trigger job fix that? And my gun with the best trigger is my Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum which in SA mode breaks like the proverbial piece of glass at 2 or 3lb. which just happens to be what I shoot the best with. It's much better than even my SA 1911 GI.

I've shot almost 1000 through my XD9, and the trigger does get better. Not enough to be where I want it, though. I'm still going to do a trigger job eventually...I'm going to wait it out a few more months, though and see if I can get accurate with it as stock.

My guns pretty old got it new in 2004 or 2005, have fired several thousand rounds out of it, functions great just not as accurate as I could be I think.

Looks sweet, care to elaborate on the tweaking and mods?

I am also curious about this. I would like a nicer trigger and am looking into getting a trigger mod for it... don't know what yet.

Clearly, a shorter and lighter trigger pull will help to control muzzle movement and increase accuracy. Dry firing with some Snap Caps will help too.

If you haven't yet shot the gun from the bench in order to get an idea of how accurate the gun is, I would suggest that as a first step. From there, a trigger job and maybe a new barrel is a second step. Sights could also be and issue if the gun is not hitting where it is aimed to hit.

With tweaking and the newly available aftermarket parts it can be like BUTTER.

My trigger's right at 5# with very little pre and overtravel. The trigger is nothing but consistent and predictable.

The trigger on my XD9 was done by Powder River and is much better than the drop in parts kits I used. But the parts kits will help greatly. I liked the Powder River Kit better.

Dunno that you'll ever get one to break like glass, but it's pretty close, and is really light. I'd guess 2.5-3#. It is not close to being as clean of a break as my LB 1911, but it is nice.

I agree.

My trigger job was done by Canyon Creek before the parts were available, but with the availability of the parts it makes it that much easier to adjust the trigger.
