Dept's switching to Xd's

Hello,

New XD40 subcompact owner here from AZ.

When researching XD vs Glock before my purchase I came across a lot of forums where people stated such and such dept' is considering switching from Glock to XD. Keyword is 'Considering' and I have never heard of any dept which has actually switched. Not that it really matters but does anyone know solidly of any police dept's or whatever that have made the switch?

The one here recently switched from S&W to Glock .357sigs

So of course being the fine upstanding citizen that supports our local police when the trades came available I bought the Chief's old S&W 4006

A few officers in smaller depts around me have switched from Glock to the XD. These are depts where they are not issued weapons and must buy their own working from a list of approved sidearms. Most of the larger depts I've had contact with all still issue Glock or Sig, However I've seen a few of them carrying XD sub-compacts while off duty, at court, etc.

I know first hand there are depts in CA, CO, and WA that are switching to the XD as an issued sidearm.

Please clarify. I find it hard to believe that everyone is going to be giving up their Glocks all of a sudden.

My brother in the Illinois State Police hasn't mentioned that they are going to M&Ps. He will be pissed, since he just bought a Glock back-up gun to match his issued sidearm.

Our local Sheriff's Department switched to XD's a couple of years ago.

As for, "Most departments are switching to S&W M&P's", that's a meaningless statement unless you can provide the departments that are doing so. Even then, "Most" is highly unlikely.

I read a report recently that the Trenton, NJ PD was looking to dump their Glocks for XD's even though Glock was offering a, "no cost" trade in for new Glocks.
