Thumbs up XD Slide Stuck *ALL FIXED*

Problem Resolved. Thanks Everyone!

After cleaning my 4 year old 9mm Service XD I went to reassemble the slide to the lower receiver and something went very wrong. I believe the disassembly lever wasn’t fully engaged when I put the side back on. I didn’t force the slide on and it went on like normal until I dropped the thumb lever and the slide jammed midway and will not move at all in either direction. I purchased this through Davidson Gallery of Guns they include a lifetime warranty where they replace your broken gun with a brand new gun, this sound good to me. I’m just wondering if there is any disadvantage going through them other then Springfield Armory for the warranty issue. Thanks for the help!

I doubt this had anything to do with the takedown lever. Do you have a stock guide rod in it?

guide rod wasnt centered when you put it together... i think your issue involves a rubber mallet on your slide, or other use of force. dont worry, you wont hurt it, your xd is tough

Got a rubber mallet..........................
Do some searches.
I know there are some threads involving stuck slides.

You can get it apart without damage to the XD..........

Thumbs up

It is the stock guide rod and your right it was off center. This required a LOT more force then I expected, but worked great! Other then some slight damage to the finish the only thing I found was two small indents on the sides of the feed ramp.. Also, should I replace the spring? Thank you for the help! I did try to search this but got no were.

You don't have to replace the spring unless you damaged it to the point where it might not function correctly.
