Problem Resolved. Thanks Everyone!
After cleaning my 4 year old 9mm Service XD I went to reassemble the slide to the lower receiver and something went very wrong.

guide rod wasnt centered when you put it together... i think your issue involves a rubber mallet on your slide, or other use of force. dont worry, you wont hurt it, your xd is tough

Got a rubber mallet..........................
Do some searches. I know there are some threads involving stuck slides. You can get it apart without damage to the XD..........

It is the stock guide rod and your right it was off center. This required a LOT more force then I expected, but worked great!

You don't have to replace the spring unless you damaged it to the point where it might not function correctly.
