Seriously? Maybe it's just my local stores (immediate Bay Area) that are so up tight. I'll keep my eyes open when I'm around town. Thanks!

Now that you have a bunch of 'stuff' you will need something to tote it all around in, this range bag is great...even if it was twice the price:

MidwayUSA - MidwayUSA Competition Shooting Range Bag Nylon Black

You also may want to look into picking up the AGI XD DVD, its about $30 but details the inner workings of a XD and shows you how to take it all apart and put it back together again:

MidwayUSA - AGI Technical Manual & Armorer's Course Video "Springfield Armory XD Pistols" DVD

The DVD is not a must have, but if you are new to guns I highly recommend it. You will also want to get yourself a set of punches and a small hammer. If you have a Harbor Freight local to you they have a few decent little punch sets for under $8, otherwise check online for punch sets, you can find some pretty OK ones for reasonable prices.

If you have a local range that sells memberships I would suggest getting one (assuming its a 'come as often as you want' membership) as you will probably pay for a year long membership after your first month of shooting. My local range gets $250 for me, my wife, and my son per year. Its a steal since its $18 a pop otherwise and we go at least three days a week.

Find a local Walmart that sells ammo. The Winchester 'white box' (WWB) 100 round bulk is $18 and change and is the best deal you will find anywhere.

Oh...one more thing...cash is the best shooting accesory, so be sure to quit spending money on everything else

Great tip on the gear. I'm getting that video for sure. Thanks.

Congrats on the XD-9 tac! I love mine, it's very accurate and has never had a FTF or FTE. Plus, it just looks damn sexy! I have to agree with what was said about the midway usa range bag. Got mine a couple weeks ago and I would have gladly paid double for it. There's even a video review of it on this forum if you search for it. You might want to move on that soon because I think they're on sale until 5/31 for $40.

**edit**-Just checked the midway website and they extended the sale through June. You should still move on it though!

Welcome from PA

I have a XD 45ct and a XD 9t, love them both! Well, I love all my guns really . . . LOL

I bought the 9mm just so I could shoot cheaper . . . with the same fromat as my XD45ct . . . LOL

I usually shoot Remington UMC, 9mm, buy the 250 round box, less than $40 here, compared to almost $90 for .45 acp.

I bought my range bad at Mal-Wart, comes with two gun pads as well so it works good for me. I use Breakfree to clean, have both the spray and the small squirt bottles, I use rags from the car care section, the lint free cotton ones. a boresnake is wonderful, I also bought one of the pistol cleaning kits that everything fits in the handle of at my local GS. A real nice brush can be found in the dental section of most stores, for dentures, stiffer than a normal toothbrush, stiff nylon bristles so it doesn't scrath or mar the finish, works really good for scrubbing when needed.

Have fun, your gonna love your XD.

Are you serious? Or did you mean $50? Because around here the 250 pack of UMC 9mm is normally $55 or sometimes on sale for $50. If that's true, it would be like $8 per 50, which is cheaper than most reloaded ammo! If it is I might be making a road trip to PA.

Sounds like you live in alameda county. Try the local wallmart in milpitas. I know they stock it. I just picked up 300 rounds there on tuesday.

Boresnake "Field Kit" comes with the snake of your choice plus a handle ( wont need it but it's there ) Hoppes oil, Hoppes Solvent in a spray can, two Hoppes gun wipes in a little front pouch with room for a rag if you want to add one. And the main pouch even has a belt loop so one less thing in your hands.
Check out the luggage section at wal-mart for a range bag, no need to advertise you're packing a gun around.
Check this out too:
CASE-030 - Deluxe Pistol Case, BLACK Securely Holds 2 Handguns - Manufactured by: Leapers
I have like 6 or 7 of them for my pistols, can't beat the price and check out the reviews. The front pouch will hold 2 or 3 boxes of ammo. Might be a good place to start.
