any way to find out when an XD45 was made?

I just bought a used XD 45 and just wondering how old it is, it really dont look that old, it has the new finish on there last nubers are 628728, it came in an XD case but its not the orignal case it was in, the serial number on the case and gun are diffrent and theres no orignal test shell in there.

Call SA and ask. I believe that's the only way.

Well, you can be certain that it is 2006 or newer. I think the first year for the XD 45 was 2006 right?

well I just looked at my XD9 and thats in the 830000 numbers so I would guess that the 45 is older than my xd9 so it looks like it just wasnt used much, I put around 2000 rounds through my xd9 and that has more wear on the extractor than this 45 does I would guess under a 1000 rounds out of this if even that.

Serials are random, so you can't tell the assembly date by comparing.
