XDm Spare Mags
FYI - Springfield told me that spare mags for the XDm will be available within the next 3 weeks.

Is it at all possible to get normal sized mags for the original XD that will hold 16 .40 rounds?

Springfield Armory will release the new XD(M)™mags in a few weeks as Atmiller stated...However the XD 12 round mag wont fit the XD(M)™ and vesa versa.. Now Ralph Arredondo is working on an extention for this new XD(M)™. Hopefully he can get 20 rounds of 40S&W for the XD(M)™. Now that would be cool
 Right now you can put 15 rounds in a normal XD mag with a Arredondo extension along with a new 10% spring....
