New Owner, Should I Register?
Picked it up monday as some of you know. I asked the gun dealer if I should bother registering directly with springfield, he said its up to me.
I dont know if i need to register to have a warranty or not. I also know when ppl register their guns they just get spam mail from random gun organizations/magazines. Would registering benefit me or would it bug me, if so, do the benefits outweigh the bugs. thanks all!

I would register with them. I haven't received any spam e-mail from a single gun company yet, and I sent the card in to Springfield in Dec. '07.
If you ever have to send it in for a repair or to replace worn-out springs or something of the like, you'll most likely have to send the card in anyways (not sure on this, someone clarify?).

You don't need to register at all. Warranty covers the gun and has nothing to do with registering. The only benefit of registering you will likely see is SA can contact you directly if there is ever a recall or anything (and I don't see that happening). The main purpose of registering is for SA to learn more about you.

I tend to register any big or important purchases such as electronics. However, I have not and dont think i will register my XD. I have had it for about a year. I figure its only for Marketing and demographic purposes. If there is a recall or issue im sure it will be posted here. Ocasionaly some companies will send you promotional items or coupons, but I havent heard of anyone getting something from Springfield. Have any members received such from Springfield?

I never register my guns. Unless you count the form 4473 or the nics check calls or the occasional times I've used a credit card or....
Either way, I'm not sending in some stupid 'card' to them or anyone else.

I registered mine--didn't see any harm in it, but maybe I'm just naive and trusting.

Have you ever seen the movie "Red Dawn"? What was the first thing the Russian and Cuban armies did when they invaded? They went to the local gun stores and gathered the copies of all the gun ownership records. I'm not registering for that exact reason...
But seriously, let me take the tinfoil hat off my head for a minute. I did register but I never completed any of the demographic information such as age, salary, etc.

I filled it out and sent it in. Figured it couldn't hurt anything. I have not received any spam mail either.

I register mine, never got anything from SA because of it.
Now Taurus on the other hand . . . . seems a new catalogue every 4-6 months is always coming. LOL
