Normal for TFO's???

I just picked up my .45 tactical from Gander Mountain with TFO's installed. There is a small gap between the sights and the slide, and when I pointed it out to the gunsmith he said "that's normal". Is this indeed normal, or is there something wrong with the way the sights were installed? Will that gap affect my shooting in any way?

I have TFO's on all 3 of my XD's and there is a very small gap under the front sights (i am assuming that is the gap that you are talking about).

It depends on how they fit it. Some gap is normal, how big the gap is depends on how they fit the sights. TruGlo is generous with the sight clearance.

I have TFOs on all my XDs and they all have a slight gap. It's not a problem.

Alright, thanks for the info. I just wanted to be sure since I paid 50 bucks to have them installed.

Same here, I have TFO's that were installed by a gunsmith and there is also a very small gap on both front and rear.

Crap, now I'll have to go look. Fifty bucks? Wow. I thought I got hosed when my gunsmith went up to $20. Find a gunsmith, not a parts changer at the super store next time, you'll save some money.

Yea, I read 20 bucks for Gander Mountain on the forum here somewhere and the gunsmith wasn't in when I dropped it off and the guy who took my gun couldnt tell me how much the gunsmith would charge. So I just assumed it'd be around 20, and when I picked it up today I was like holy sh!*. Pretty much anything else I'd have done to the gun I'll research and do on my own anyways. Like tomorrow when I put my springer precision trigger upgrade kit in, .

Both of mine have a small gap under both the front and rear. It has never been a problem.
