Unhappy I broke my XD40

I was walking out the door with my XD in a holster and I snagged the rear sight on the edge of the door. It shifted about a 1/4 inch to the right but it also loosened the sight to where I can shift it back and forth easily by hand. It won’t however, completely slide out.
Is this an easy fix?

ohhh.....well, get some loc-tite and hope you didnt remove some metal (if you had it filed and fit in there and removed some metal you have a small problem).

loc-tite should work though. if you cant get a snug fit still just remove the sight and place some thin paper on the bottom of it to try and fill in the matal you may have lost. a shim to to speak.

Are these aftermarket night sights? The sights should not come loose that easy, especially on an XD.

If you don't mind parting with the gun I would send it back to Springfield and have them fix it. It may be somthing simple like someone removing material from the sight to make an easier fit. Or it could be the dovetail is not machined correctly, either way Loctite is a patch not a fix. Before you do this though I have Heinie Straight Eight sights on a 1911 and there is a set screw on the rear sight to tighten the sight in the dovetail is this true for the XD sights? If so simple adjust the sight and tighten the set screw. Sometimes we just don't see the obvious.

Agreed, there is a set screw on mine as well.

Loc-tite is not a forever fix as you mentioned but it will work for the time being.

Send it back like he says...cant go wrong with that.

the set screw is probably under the sight so you have to disassemble parts of the slide to get to it?
