XD40sc : marred shells
I am hoping someone can tell me what might be causing this, along with any action I should take to correct this issue.
I shot about 100 or so rounds out of it so far and did not notice the marred shells till i got home. this mark is on every single shell. ![]() Thanks in advance |

Im no expert by far, but i would assume that either your firing pin moves when you pull the trigger, or, ill go out on a limb and say that perhaps the firing pin is sticking out while the round is being stripped from the magazine and loaded into the chamber.
Thats just my guess

IIRc I noticed somewhat the same marks on my primers but not as long as yours. Shot that way from NIB IIRC.

General consensus is that this smearing is normal, prevalent more in 40S&W than other calibers and nothing to worry about. Some find that a change in springs clears the 'problem' 'for a while'. It's caused as the brass is ejected after firing the round.

gonna be funny when cali/NY spend all this money on microstamping when the firing pin smears the primer most of the time, making any serial unreadable
