A fun afternoon of XD improvements..
I had a few boxes from Pistolgear.com arrive today with a set of Dawson adjustable sights and a Springfield Precision trigger kit. Needless to say, I quit working early so I could get right into everything. It took a bit of time to get the stock sights out of the slide (two beer job even if you have the tools) but otherwise everything was a joy to install. The Dawson sights are just what I was looking for...perfect for our use (9mm Tactical, range use a few days a week) and very nice quality. The front sight took a fair amount of fitting to press into the slide but after a bit of massaging it went in pretty nicely. Had to remove quite a lot of material, but I think that is to be expected when fitting a front sight to the XD. The rear sight went in with no problem, half of the way with a firm press from a thumb, the rest of the way with a few taps from the supplied plastic tiped punch. I'll go to the range tomorrow, but I can already tell that the Dawson sights are a massive improvemnt over the stock sights. Just what I was looking for.
After I installed the sights I broke the XD down for a cleaning and to install the Springer Precision trigger kit. The install was uneventful, remove parts, replace with other parts. No issues at all and the end result is very noticeable. Well worth the money IMO. I also replaced my stamped steel ejector with the cast version, a nice little upgrade if you have a newer XD. My steel one was fine after a few thousand rounds but frankly I just thought it looked crappy so I replaced it. I'll use the steel one as a spare. Cant wait to go play with it. |

Is it normal to have to remove material ,and fit the sights to the Dovetail? Blake. |

The Dawson front sight's instructions say they size it on the big side to provide a good fit on most guns, and the front groove on the XD slide is on the small side...so I would imagine you may need to remove a little material from most front sights when installing them on a XD.

BOFH- Where did you get the cast version of the ejector? I see the ejector on Pistolgear but it doesn't say its the cast version, looks like a SA part. Thanks. |

I checked with pistolgear.com to see which version they had, they said the ones they had in stock were the cast version, so I ordered one. Email them and I am sure they will confirm what they have in stock. I just ordered mine last week so they may have some more in stock...but check first.

Great, thanks I'll check with them, I recently ordered one from them as a back up but didn't know they had two types. Hey, I see you are in Orange County, where do you typically shoot at? On Target? Firing Line? BigPea |

Do you have a link or model number of that exact version please? I need adjustables for my XD-45 CompTac.

Me and my wife go to Firingline a few days a week...typically 3-4 days a week I guess. We live about 5 minutes from the H.B. location so we are there quite a bit.
