Then you are getting below SA's list dealer pricing (per SA's rep for the west coast) and better than the gold star pricing he quoted me.

Unless my figures are wrong and/or my dealer is lying to me, it should be closer to $560 for dealer cost. Thats for bi-tone.

Mid $600 for a BiTone with nights sights would be one heck of a sweet deal.

Offer it to me and I will break down and give you my card number.

I was in a local police supply store ,in the case was a new XD-m ,as stated new xd model, it was priced at 649.99 , I dont know ,i'm still a 1911 .45 cal. I think i'll spend a hundred less and get the 45 service myself. 13 rounds +1 , if I can't hit em with that I'll need to take up needle point or something.

I think that Springfield making the XD-M so fundamentally different from the XD is a big mistake, the XD brand was finally coming into it's own, especially in the law enforcement world. With Springfield making such fundamental changes, especially magazines and accessories that will be incompatable is just plain stupid, Glock has become the standard over many years with only making evolutionary changes the their gun, and it has been a very successful formula. Springfield is betting the farm on the civilian market with this change, a market that can quickly dry up with a possible very anti gun democratic administration with Obama.

doubt it, not everyone wants to blow 600-700 on a handgun. I know I wont. Its for a smaller niche market. Regular XDs will still be the bread and butter. XD-M is like a Lexus and the XD is the Toyota

I agree with this. When you start getting to $550+ for a plastic framed handgun, the perception of value diminishes. Whether the added features are "worth it" or not, I wonder if the general public will find the advertising enough to spend over $150 for a different version of a regular XD.

I like the new design and was excited about it till I saw it was going to be $600. At that price point I'm not even considering it. I think the masses will stick with the regular XD and the XDM will be a smaller market indeed. Hopefully this was Springfield's plan all along.
