the whole "M" factor and the lame ad text that goes with that is just that.. lame.. it would have been better to have marketed it as a "Match" model.. since it has a match barrel and trigger with it.. i.e. "XD-Match".. it's the same stuff that comes with the other XDs, other than the holster is now the non-adjustable paddle holster..
i really do like the case that it comes in.. that's pretty nice.. and it has closed cell foam inserts that are less likely to tear up.. i would like to know if the new sights will fit on older XDs.. yes, the marketing is gimmicky.. but, it does look like the pistol is very nice.. no, i'm not going to run out and buy one.. i like my 45ACP Service too much.. |

Actually I was refering to all H&K weapons including pistols.....
H & K Makes History With Pistol Contract The Department of Homeland Security has awarded the largest ever law enforcement contract for pistols to Heckler & Koch Defense Inc. to make tens of thousands of small arms for immigration and customs enforcement personnel. The multi-year contract has a potential value of $26.2 million. The maximum number of pistols being purchased hovers at 65,000, making it the single largest handgun procurement in the history of U.S. law enforcement. Three models of firearms were selected, chosen in three calibers, from a pool of 46 weapons from different companies vying for the contract. The company said that more than 3 million rounds were fired during the testing of the weapons. "The testing protocol not only included one of the most rigorous battery of reliability, environmental, accuracy and durability tests a handgun has ever been subjected to," mentioned Wayne Weber, the company's defense federal operations manager. It also featured the "most powerful selection of cartridges within each of three calibers." Those calibers are 9x19 mm, .40 cal. Smith and Wesson, and .357 mm SIG. H&K has long sought the border enforcement market. In 2000, the company modified a trigger system solely for U.S. immigration specifications. The system uses the rearward movement of the slide to pre-cock an internal separate cocking piece within the hammer. The hammer returns forward with the slide after loading or firing, yet the internal cocking piece stays raised. Once the trigger is pulled, the hammer is driven forward by the cocking piece to fire the pistol. The amount of force of the hammer can be set to the user's preference. The trigger system was made for proficient shooting, and quick follow-up shots, by those with small hands or limited hand strength, according to H&K company statements. H&K has had a good year for gun sales. Earlier this year the company won a contract to equip the federal flight deck officer program for the Transportation Security Agency. This year, the arms manufacturers began construction of a new plant in Columbus, Ga., to keep up with new orders. Not bad for an overpriced and overrated gunmaker.... Quote:

Pink don't worry it just seems that "Small Arms" is just a hater, and obviously who can't appreciate great engineering, and for the record FN pistols are in the Glock and XD class certainly not in the H&K and Sig class. Just as some ppl at work can't phathom why I would spend the money that I do to own an M3, I simply can appreciate the build quality, engineering and the style that high end German automobiles offer, not to mention that they are so damm pimp!!!

Uh...were you bitter with the computer replaced the typewriter, too? I can't understand the animosity towards Springfield/HS Produkt just because they want to upgrade a product. Granted, I don't feel compelled to run out and get one of these, and I like the blockiness of the original XD design, but this vitriol towards the XDm reminds me of the way 1911 die-hards badmouth polymer pistols. Since the original remain available for sale, why all the bitterness? |

Guys, admit it. You will buy this gun eventually even if you think you don't like it now. We're gun nuts and there's no cure for us.
BTW, I really like the fact that you don't have to pull the trigger when field stripping. That's a one big plus for me right there! |

Warning - XD-M with bad finish
Went to pick up new XD-M today. Opened box and slide was all scratched up. The bore brush had come loose and rubbed the slide in transit. The dealer took the brush and ran the plastic bristles on the slide. THE PLASTIC BRISTLES SCRATCHED THE SLIDE. Dealer is returning to Springfield.
Not sure if others have seen this yet, but these kinds of things are not usually isolated, since I'm sure they coat these slides in batches. Make sure everyone watches for this. I'll be waiting for a stainless model.
