I've seen the videos...so I'm paying an extra $200 for a slightly better barrel, more material removed around the mag release, and a slightly different grip?
Sorry, but that is NOT a new gun, like they've been advertising. Improved, sure...but most of those I would think SA would just do to the current lineup and charge a few extra bucks.

So how long before you offer XD-M trigger jobs?

I won't reiterate why the P7 is a great gun - the Cult of the P7 have an extensive list. Made of exquiste machined steel, it was pricy in it's day - but no more so than a stock gun that has some custom work.

Yeah, I've got a Sig, Beretta, and now an XD40SC but I don't ever get rid of the guns. In my family, a gun is a family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. The only gun that has ever been sold in the family was a cheap black powder rifle I used for one season deer hunting. Other than that $150.00 rifle - nothing is sold. However, I've been wanting a .45 for a while so it would make a good excuse when it comes out. Who knows - I might still pick up the XD-m just so I can gloat that I've got more rounds than someone else can! |

That's a lotta extra money for what seems to be only a little extra product. For the difference in features, I'd go with the standard XD and pay less. The videos on Guntalk even turned me a little further off it. Not to disparage Guntalk by any means, but I think XD lost me when they made a big deal about how the new slide keeps your fingers from sliding off the gripping grooves. Uhhh.... yeah. And I don't like the replaceable backstrap. And I couldn't care less about pulling the trigger to disassemble the gun. As for the barrel, at my age and experience level, most any gun out there is mechanically capable of shooting better groups than I am able to take advantage of. Not that a better barrel is bad, but not worth me paying more for it. And if the barrel is that good, then that is probably where MOST of the extra cost is going.
I was thinking I might like to get one of these, but now I'm thinkin' nope. I'll still be waiting for the thumb safety to become more widely available. |

My desire is SA releases the XDm in 9MM, 357 Sig and .45 ACP. You are right the frame is the same for .40 S&W, 9MM & 357 Sig we should see those calibers out in the near future. And would be a "No Brainer" for SA to release. The .45 may take more development time but they have already crossed that hurdle with the XD 45 and have done it once already. I'm looking for more great things from SA this year.

Thanks for posting that. After watching the videos, I would really like to take an XDM out and shoot it.
