Springfield will be distributing a DVD about the XDm. You can see some of that DVD online, in free streaming video.

GunTalkTV - The #1 Online Resource for Gun Training

You'll see 10 videos on the right side. Just click on one and start. There are more than 250 firearm and knife videos on the site.
Tom, glad to have you as a member here. I love your PDTV show!

You know I think the same things were once said about Glock by traditionalists and then the XD by those who were infatuated with Glocks. From what I have seen, they have taken a great design and then made it even better.

I was in my local Impact Guns here in Boise and talked to them about the XDm. Nothing but glowing reviews. Then came the bad news. According to the SA rep there are NO plans for the XDm to ever be made in .45acp. They are only going to have it in 40SW and a 9mm to come out later this year.

The XD-M has the highest capacity of any .40 cal on the market, 16+1. If I were you, I'd trade in one of those old .40's and buy the much improved XD-M.

That's funny, because a reliable source at this forum told us that the .45 ACP XD-M will be the next one to come out.

Thumbs up

Very nice gun. just might buy one. Question, can the parts on the "m" be installed on your regular XD, sights, barrel, ect.

Interchangeable backstraps makes it appealing to me, as it will make it easier for my wife to shoot it. She has very small hands. Disassembly w/o pulling the trigger is a plus.

I also noticed that the XDm has a recoil spring and guide rod similar to Don's Guide Rod instead of a captive dual coil design.

Don, you should sue for royalties!

Beware of the things you read on the net. If you look at the history of how a company releases product, you might have a better idea of what product makes more sense to release next.

Archer1945,

I'm not sure if is the weight, I think it has more to do with the grip, but I do much prefer the recoil on the XDm over the XD. It is very well balanced.

I already have the Sub and the Tactical in .40 ~ now I may need to add a XDm Service to complete the set.

I'm anxious to get my hands on one to see how it feels.
