It looks like they took the slack out of the trigger on the XDM.
It seems the trigger is a bit more set back than the standard XD.

Yes, you can get magazine extensions for the XDs. Check out Pistol Gear...

Now if they do come out with a compact version with a, say, 3.5 inch barrel then I think I know what the ultimate carry gun might be. 16+1 when you need it would be sweet in either 40 S&W or357 sig. I wonder what the new config would offer in a 9mm -- perhaps 18+1.

I like how it looks. If it were the same size, caliber, and felt as comfortable as the 45 Service I'd seriously consider it.

Till then, I'm not interested.

I've not seen, handled or shot the XDM & until I have seen, handled & shot it I will NOT be on the bandwagon. That said I don't understand some of the posts.ANYTHING made by MAN is not perfect & CAN be improved.WHAT is wrong with more rounds in the same size package or with IC backstraps to customfit YOUR grip or a match bbl for better accuracy or better sights that enable YOU to shoot better.Gaston's perfection plays a lot better in ads than it does in the real world.Make a mythical 35M & put an IC backstrap /beavertail & a true fully supported lead loving bbl & Dawson (or Heine or Warren or take your pick) sights & let it hold more rounds & see how many old 35's you would sell.If the results equal the expectations & the XDM is offered in the 5 inch Tact with the thumb safety & the price is still in the same range you can reserve me a front row seat on the bandwagon.Time will tell but come on people , not all change is bad & there is a lot that LOOKS & CAN be good on the XDM.

Guess I'll have to wait to judge until I can get my hands on one.

As far as first impression on looks, I personally would have to pass. IMO it doesn't look as "rugged" as an XD is supposed to, it looks more like a toy.

If it's going to be in addition to the current XDs, that's fine, maybe it will bring some more people to SA.

No, they do not use the same magazines.
