Yeah, the cut out of the front of the slide doesn't look as out-landish as it did in the cell-phone pics. It still looks like a space-gun, but I've never thought the XD was particularly attractive to begin with. I didn't buy it for looks.

I think it probably does. On the bbl. hood you can read "match" pretty clearly. Also the serial on the right side starts with "MG" which my best guess is, stands for "Match-Grade"

I cannot wait until next Thursday, Friday
and Saturday when I attend the National
NRA gathering in Louisville, KY.

With an NRA Host, VIP and Endowment
Member credentials, surely I can get
someone from SA to 'talk' about the
straight skinny on this new machine.

XDTalk will be represented.

Talking What they should have done is...............

I think SA needs to take their time and design a .380 pocket pistol platform in which crushes the Kel-tec P3AT and the Ruger LCP. This pistol needs to be basic, reliable & afordable "$250-$400 range".

Yea, SA came out with the EMP but man, I have read about alot of issues it's had. Yea the EMP is small but its heavy,"bulky" not afordable low capacity and nearly close to being a pocket pistol. Pocket pistols are hot right now and will stay that way because we now have the technology to make them fuction the way they should. Take this to the drawing board SA!!

The XD9/40 may be smaller in circumference than the XD45, but the difference is so small as to be imperceptible to me. So, they got it right first time. As did the 1911, and as did the P35. Both for different cartridges, but both extremely comfortable and usable as they come from the manuf. THAT is what I'm talking about. You don't need this current fad of interchangeable backstraps. Just get it right to start with.

Perfect examples of who DIDN'T get it right, IMO? Glock, Beretta, SIG. Even though I have a G19 which I really like, and shoot really well, it isn't as good as any of the ones I mentioned above. The Beretta is an abomination, and the SIG is just bad. All three originally designed for the SAME cartridge, three different grips, all bad (for me). Now, admittedly, there are the two-sigma users that love the Beretta, the one-sigmas that use SIG's, and the apparently 6-sigmas that use the Glock. But they are all less than optimum. IMO. Heck, it's all about opinion, anyway. And, by the way, I showed the new M to a guy that just bought an XD-40 a few weeks ago, and loves it. He really likes the M.

i really like it, the more i look at it and the more people talk about it. if it comes stock with match grade parts i will be first in line to buy one. i dont know what people have against it, it doesnt look bad and it has improvements.. why so negative.. plus if they arent gettin rid of standard XDs than who is it hurting.
