Have your read any of the thousands of thread discussing this?
Yes it's OK to leave your mags, or guns loaded. Springs do not get weak by leaving them compressed.

Loaded but not cocked? Does that mean you have a full mag but chamber is not loaded or have you found a way to load the chamber and decock the gun?

Decocking
I have noticed that it could be possible to decock with a round in the chamber if you depress the grip safety and stick something thin in the gap between the frame and the slide and press down on the sear allowing the striker to spring forward and hit the striker block before firing the round.
I haven't tried this, since I can think of no reason to have it in this condition, and I would rather not release the striker with a live round in the chamber. |

I never dry fire it (without a snap cap) unless I field strip it or decock it after the usage, which means I do it not too often but I'm still being a bit paranoid with roll pin getting damaged etc.
Actually I'm thinking about using snap cap all the time: 1) When field stripping 2) When decocking If I understand correctly, it won't do harm to the gun. |

It does take bit more effort and focus but I'd rather have that then to damage the pin. Quote:
I guess they forgot to lift it. Last edited by Breadfan; 05-17-2008 at 04:38 PM. |
