Newb questions, first XD
Hi Folks, my first post here. First off, thanks for all the advice I've gotten while a ghost on XDTalk, second, thanks for any advice you have for me now.
I'm really interested in the XD45 Compact. Local store has them for $499 (LA, which seems pretty fair). My questions are: Are there any issues I should be aware of with the XD45c? I saw a video on YouTube of a guy shooting one, and the spent ammo was being thrown all over the place. That was probably isolated. I recall reading about the pre-Melonite finishes rusting. Is there a serial number where that cut-off hit? I talked to the gun dealer, and he stated the stock was up to date, but it never hurt to be educated. Lastly, will there be an XDm 45? Thanks again! |

There is no "spent ammo". The bullets go where the pistol is pointed and the empty brass gets ejected. The quality of the ammo can make a huge difference in how far and how neatly the empty brass is ejected.
All XD45 models have the Melonite finish. XD45M? Who knows at this point.

It's official! I bought my first XD today. XD 45 Compact. Luckily I'm traveling for the next week to help with the 10 day wait. BTW, Martin Retting in Culver City has the XD for $499. Other variants with night sights or earth frame are a bit more.

As far as serial numbers go, they are all randomly assigned.

If your XD is new, not used then you dont have to worry about the melonite finish.
