MRI-BEP (v.) SA-XD

Magnum Research Baby Eagle Pistol (v.) Springfield-Armory XD-40 V-10

OK. I think I have made my decision between the two guns after the latest range trip. Both are awesome but in comparison, like everything, I have to say: I am sorry, but I love the BEP.

For starters the tight fitting ~150mm of frame/slide contact makes me just wet thinking about it. I know; The XD cannot be compared to the metal framed pistol, but that a feature I like about the BEP. Accuracy with the BEP is amazing, the XD is on-par but nothing like the BEP. The stock trigger pull of the BEP is super long in DA, but decent, and very crisp in SA. Trigger pull weights are about the same between the two pistols, as the XD's was modified by Powder River Precision. The take down of the BEP is nice; as you do not have to pull the trigger for field stripping. Field stripping both pistols is very quick. The BEP weighs ~3# when loaded, and makes it pretty heavy, but is very well balanced in my hands. The XD has a top heavy feeling, but overall weight of the pistol was much less than the BEP. The finish on the BEP sucks compared to the XD, I like the matte look but it scratches easily. I have 300 rounds through the BEP w/ no failures, and 600 through the XD with no failures.

There is my small Apples to Oranges comparison. Just my opinion, I may look into the XDm-40 but I am unsure on my current XD's fate.
