Newbie ejector issues

Hello,
This is my first offcial post, I have been around of about 6 months but I tend to listen more than talk. My issue is that my new xd40sc had an issue with a crack on the ejector. Has anyone had problems with this before? I contacted sprinfield and they are sending a new part with no problem. I have only 230 rounds through the gun and absolutly love it. I will try to get a pic sometime today.

Welcome to XDTalk. There are a few threads on here about ejectors and lots of pics. The newer ones have a crack where the metal folds over.

Do you have the thicker cast-type ejector or the newer thinner stamped sheet metal ejector? Here is a link to a topic where I describe the switch over to cheaper ejectors and explain how I replaced the ejector on my 2008 XD-45 Compact myself. There is a photo to help you identify which type you have. My ejector did not break, but it had a wobbly fit and was very thin looking. I feel better with the more solid old-style ejector in place.

Got the replacement ejector today and the brand new one had the same crack in the bend, so as far as im concerned no worries. I wonder why s/a wouldn't use the same ejector on these guns as on the tactical? I think I saw another thread and they were alot better built on the tacts. Well i have a spare now and was very impressed with the service so i will just consider it a "service test drive!"

Crack in the Bend? Twice?

Please post a photo so as to clarify what you mean by a "crack in the bend". Did you check out my link on my previous post? Which type of ejector do you have? The thick cast type or the thin stamped type. Refer to the photos in the link.

The ejector on the newer Tactical models (at least on mine) is also the stamped version instead of the cast one.

When I bought my 2008 XD-45 Compact, it had a wobbly loose-fitting sheet-metal stamped ejector. It was very delicate looking and with the loose fit, it thought it might snap off one day. I ordered and received two .45 ejectors (replacement and spare) which are the thicker and better made cast version. I installed the replacement myself and it fits much better and looks like it will last forever. See my previous post for a link and installation instructions.

It sounds like they are now stocking the el cheapo stamped version as replacement (depending on caliber). I am glad I have the sturdier cast version. Not only is Springfield using cheaper parts, but they are charging more for each complete gun! This will be my last XD purchase.

I just bought an XD45C a couple of weeks ago that has the stamped ejector as well (although mine seems to be well fit and is not loose). After reading about the stamped vs. cast ejectors in threads here I went ahead and ordered a spare from SA last week. It arrived today and it is the cast version, so apparently they aren't completely out of them yet - at least for the 45s. I expressed concern about the durability of the relatively thin stamped part to the customer service lady when I was ordering the spare, and she said that they had guns there that had 30,000 rounds through them with no failures - she didn't specifically say they were using the new ejector but she seemed to imply it...
