Help me decide Glock 19 vs XDSC 9mm

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to decide on a ccw. My biggest hurdle is how the 2 guns handle in recoil. I have heard that the XDSC is better because it is heavier than the G19, but then G19 has a lower bore axis. If any of you have shot both or own both please let me know what you think.

Thanks

I happen to have one of each.

As far as felt recoil the difference is hardly noticable with slightly less on the G19 after all it is a compact and not a SC. But I wouldn't think it would be enough to make me decide one way or the other as far as a ccw. Now if we were talking a IDPA gun then it would be a factor to me but then other factors come into play as well.
I owned my G19 first and just recently purchased the XD9SC mainly for a ccw. I just like they way it carries with the 10 round mag in it. It is much easier to carry the XD all day every day than it is the G19. I am not saying the XD is the better weapon because I do like the Glock too. I believe the Glock to be much more durable with limited maintainence than the XD. I have heard of and seen some rust issues with the XD in normal carry duty. I do shoot the G19 better than the XD but it could very well be due to a higher round count, I only have about 500 through my XD trouble and failure free I might add. I am getting better with it too.
But back to the carry issue. I feel more comfortable with the carrying the XD over the G19. I am positive I can hit what I aim at with reasonable accuracy, I am also confident that it will go bang otherwise I would not use it for a ccw. I usually wipe my ccw down every week or so anyway so really don't see the rust becoming an issue with my XD. Try them both and buy what you like is the best advice I can give.

The bore axis is how high the barrel or center of the bore is above the top of the hand when you hold the weapon. The higher it is the more you would experience felt recoil due to the leverage exerted on your wrist. The Glock is quite low never thought about it though. I guess it most likely is marketing hype, as I really don't notice much difference.

IMO you would be better off comparing the G26 to the XD9SC.

Also if I was only going to have one pistol and only one it would be a G19 as to me it's the best of both worlds.

yea, the g26 and xd9sc are a better comparison since they are both subcompacts, but between the G19 and xd9sc, it all depends on what you're planning to do with it. The XD will be more concealable but the G19 might be more comfortable in your hand due to longer grip. Try out the 4inch version of the XD and compare that to the G19 if you're looking for something a little bigger...

Go with the XD 9 SC, make sure and purchase a pierce grip for the 10 rounders, it makes all the difference in the world.
