Firearms Training
I've not had any firearms training since leaving the USAF in 1981 and am wondering what types of classes are generally offered and where to look for them. I'd like some training in proper shooting technique, ou know -- holding the weapon, sighting the target/sights, trigger technique, and a safety refresher wouldn't ba a bad idea either.
So, where should I look for this? What classes/training would it be called? And about how much should I expect to pay? Thanks, Brian |

Check with your local range, almost all of them offer classes or one-on-one instruction. My local range provides a 'handgun safety' class for $75 and then you can get one-on-one instruction for $75 per hour if you want more advanced training.

We only have one public range where I live, and it's outdoors (meaning, no classes).
If that's your case, check with your Sheriff's office, and/or your Fish & Wildlife office (ours offers hunter safety and firearms classes).

Are you looking for as basic as can be or maybe something a little more involved?

Well since I've had some firearms training in the USAF I'd guess the intro class would be redundant so probably the next step up from there. I'm really more interested in any help with shooting technique so I can improve my accuracy. I may concider a SD class if one is offerred but probably not for a while. I don't know that safety training is necessary but it doesn't hurt to refresh that either so if I were to design the class/training I'd want a basic safety refresher followed by an intermediate level shooting instruction. Again, I may well look into a SD class down the road but I want to increase my skill level with the gun first. Brian |
