Fixed sights
I just bought an xd .40 tactical and I noticed the rear sight is not centered in the slot, it is positioned slightly to the right.
Is this normal? |

My husband's rear site is also off to the right. I looked at one (or umm many) at the store last time I was dreaming and those were not off center. Not sure why his is and it is driving him batty.

Then I realized that all firearms have some "uniqueness" about them and it becomes more a question of what you find acceptable/unacceptable. Iron sights are always off a smidgen. Want to see some that are really off? Go look at Western-styled lever action rifles. I'm sure the sights are zeroed, but Man, they looked messed up most of the time.

My front sight is a little out of center, but it shoots acurately, so I can't complain.

Ok..... shoot it with a slight tilt to the left. The vibration from the recoil will cause the sight to move into place. . .. ... .... ..... ...... ....... ........ ......... .......... ........... ............ ............. .............. ............. ............ ........... .......... ......... ........ ....... ...... ..... .... ... .. . After about 1000 rds you'll find that it's not working.... but the gun still works fine.
