So I just had a new trigger job installed on my XD which replaced the trigger spring, sear spring, and a striker safety lever. The trigger pull had been greatly improved and the same with the return shortened. But now here is what I am wondering. When I cock the XD and pull the trigger it fires properly but I have found when i continue to draw the trigger to the rear, it pops again. Not fires but its coming from the sear and striker safety lever when it resets. Has anyone had anything happen like this before? Is this normal and I just shouldnt pull the trigger back that far? I think Im going to see a gunsmith about it when I get a chance but any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I would contact the gunsmith who done it and ask him. It don't sound right.

I tried to replicate your problem and couldn't. I would also talk to the gunsmith that installed it and have him look at it. I know my PR leaver doesn't do that when my OEM trigger bar is installed.

It should definitely not do that.

It is not supposed to reset until the slide cycles and you RELEASE the trigger. If the FP safety plunger resets from trigger pull without slide cycle, it is screwed up.

I'm still fitting my prp lever but I noticed the same thing.

First off, the smith should have installed an overtravel adjustment screw. If he didn't, make him.

Secondly, the casuse. It seems that itsthe back of the trigger bar(where it grabs the safety lever) popping off of the lever's nub(where it grabs). I'm not totally sure though.

When I installed my PRP Safety Lever without the overtravel stops, I got something similar. Don't know if it's the same thing but I rack it, pull the trigger and keep holding the trigger while I rack it again. There are two distinct clicks that almost sound painful. If you put everything back to stock, you'll hear it too but not as pronounced.

The click you hear as you rack the slid after pulling the trigger and holding it down is the disconnector releasing the trigger bar from the safety leaver. As you let go of the trigger you should hear a second click as the trigger resets.

I'm assuming that you have not installed the over travel screw yet. Once you have an over travel stop installed and properly adjusted your issue should go away.
