I gotta say, I think that looks damn sweet! but I know the gun your refering to with the high gloss blue, and that would look better.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback.
I am growing more accustomed to the look, and agree that perhaps when the silver in the serrations is gone, I may like it a lot more. Here is the original photo I saw and decided I had to have it done: ![]() I apologize that I do not recall the member's name who owns this gun, but I'm sure he'll chime in here soon.

I can understand why you are disappointed (though I can't pick up the smears, I'm sure they're more apparent in person).
However, I wonder if you've been a victim of "color balance." It may well be that the original pic you wanted your slide modeled after is simply a bad color in the photo, and doesn't accurately represent the actual color. Look at the difference between the 4th and 5th pictures you posted--the color *shown* is rather different, it seems to me. Thus, what you could have been seeing in the original pic is simply bad lighting or perhaps someone diddled with the contrast, balance, whatever to bring out highlights (I speculate here, but I have done a lot with Photoshop and it's possible something like that could have altered the apparent color). I will say this--it looks sharp. It's not for me (cleaning it to keep it looking sharp would seem to be difficult), but it's beautiful. Beautiful! M.

If it didn't come out the color you wanted, you can't realistically blame Rich. You can't expect him to match a color in a picture unless he can get the exact same paint and even then it might be a bit different between batches, etc.
However, if he didn't paint it the way you wanted (ref. the silver serrations) and if the paint job is shoddy (ref. the smears, etc.) then he should absolutely offer to strip the paint and redo it properly, period. Anything less is pathetic customer service. If you made it clear that you wanted the engraving in silver and he didn't do it, he is in the wrong. Obviously the fact that you paid for the work suggests that you expected a good job on the paint, so again he is wrong. As a matter of fact, the idea that he even let it get out the door raises serious questions for me. One would think he could see the smudges and such. Then again, he sent my $1000 XD to me with a carry trigger job when I ordered a competition trigger job (per his own words). I was never offered a replacement, so who knows?

Personally, I think it looks great. That said, if that is not what you wanted, I am sure that Rich will make it right. It won't take much for him to bead blast offer the current finish and replace it with just the blue.

Way more than I would spend on customizing, but I like it.

The "Toy Gun" look isn't for me, but that blue looks rather nice. I've never used Rich, but from what I'm seeing here, I'm sure he will take care of it.
I have a question, though. Did you speak with Rich before making such a post? |

He should of had no problem matching the gun in that picture...because he did that work as well. There is only one Gun-Kote made in that color and it is Royal Blue. To me both of those pictures depict the same color blue...so I can see how you may be mislead from a photo of how the gun will actually look. I actually emailed rich about the same gun when I saw its picture because I thought that I too might want this same mod on my sc9. I do like that look...however I know that I will be certain to mention in all caps that I dont want silver in them grooves. |
